The ostrich is the biggest bird in south africa.

The paradise crane, is the national bird of South Africa and the blue crane, also known as the Stanley crane.

Culture – Bloukrans Bridge Bungee Jumping

Right in the heart of South Africa, the Bloukrans Bridge is the highest commercial natural bungee jump in the world.

The Bloukrans Bridge is an arch bridge located near Nature’s Valley, Western Cape, South Africa.

In 1990, the Bloukrans River Bridge became the first African bridge for bungee jumping.

The bungee jump in the Bloukrans Bridge is the third highest jump in the world and stands at a height of 216m above the Bloukrans River.

In 2003, Bloukrans Bungee was recognised as the worlds  highest commercial bungee jump and In 2008 the bridge was part of two more world records.

In order to get out to the bungee jump point, jumpers are sent out on a zip-line from the bank to the arch.

THE TRADITIONAL FOOD OF SOUTH AFRICA

South Africa is packed with rich, delicious dishes that has been greatly influenced not only by the population but also from the French, Malaysians, Indians and Dutch this provides an exciting and diverse kitchen that is sure to excite even the most cultured palate. Malva pudding- A Dutch import, malva pudding is a sweet and sticky baked sponge pudding made with apricot jam and served smothered in a hot cream sauce.

Chakalaka and pap- Chakalaka is a vegetable dish made of onions, tomatoes, peppers, carrots, beans and spices, and is often served cold.
Bobotie- bobotie is now the national dish of the country and cooked in many homes and restaurants. Minced meat is simmered with spices, usually curry powder, herbs and dried fruit, then topped with a mixture of egg and milk and baked until set.

The Jews of South Africa are now the largest Jewish community in the continent of Africa. This is a largely Ashkenazi community.

The Jewish community has a large part in the country.  For example they take an active part in managing the cities,  they built galleries and libraries for local art and many more things.

The languages  that are spoken in the Jewish community of South Africa are Hebrew, English and Yiddish.

Most of the Jews are residents in : Johannesburg and Capetown.

Climate of South Africa

South Africa is a sunny country. In most areas sun shines on average  8 to 10 hours a day.

In summer rain comes unexpectedly without warning.

The highest rainfall is in the  east.

The rainy season is summer and usually accompanied by short thunderstorms in the afternoons.

The country’s eastern coast is characterized by a high-humidity tropical climate and many precipitation.

Summer season is the rainy season and the hottest and the most moist (Summer season is November to February).

In the autumn season, weather is ideal. During the day is pleasant and the night is a little cold (autumn season is from March to April).

During the winter season it’s cold and dry. The most cold period is between July and August. (Winter season is from May to September).

In the spring season nature blooms, the average temperatures in this season ranges from 25C-30C to a combined degrees of pleasant winds (Spring season is from September to November).
