Elon Reeve Musk was born on June 28, 1971. he was born and raised in Pretoria, South Africa when he was 17 he moved to Canada to attend Queen’s University.

in may 2002 musk founded SpaceX. SpaceX designs manufacture and launch advanced rockets and spacecraft. the company’s goal is to enable living on other plants.

in 2008 the company launched its first rocket “FALCON 1 “  Falcon 1 becomes the first privately developed liquid-fuel rocket to reach Earth orbit.

Nelson Mandela

  • was born in 1918’ in Mavezo South Africa, he was the leader of the movement that canceled the Apartheid – the white minority that ruled in South Africa on the black majority, without giving the black people any rights of being equal.

  • Mandela is famous for his long fight for freedom to the black people, which he did un violently protest which failed.

  • As a result of this failure, he decided to act with force and to organize the violent protests. That led to his arrest and to his trial. his punishment was to serve 27 years in prison.   

  • After his punishment, he continued the fight.

  • In his activity, in 1993 he won Nobel Prize for peace.

  • In 1994 he became the first black president of South Africa, until 1998. 

  • Nelson Mandela passed away in 2013.

Golf

  • South Africa is a golfer’s paradise, with exceptional weather and magnificent golf courses located in areas of pristine beauty. Video

LANGUAGES

  • At least thirty-five languages indigenous to South Africa are spoken in the Republic.

  • ten of which are official languages of South Africa: Ndebele, Northern Sotho, Sotho, SiSwati, Tsonga, Tswana, Venda, Xhosa, Zulu and Afrikaans.

  • The eleventh official language is South African English, which is the primary factor language used in parliamentary and state discourse.

Knysna

  • Knysna means  “place of wood”.
  • Knysna is a town with 85,708 inhabitants as of 2019
  • The Knysna Lagoon opens between two massive cliffs, known as The Heads. These stand tall, acting as watchmen over the pristine loveliness of the lagoon.
  • The town is a popular destination for both tourists and senior citizens, Recently, the town has also become a preferred destination among golfers, as the town boasts several world-class golf courses
  • Knysna Speed Festival, currently known as The “Jaguar Simola Hillclimb”. It is a three-day event, with Classic Car Friday reserved for cars built prior to 1980. 
  • The Knysna Elephant Park (established in 1994) was the first facility in South Africa to house and care for orphaned African elephants.
  • Much of Knysna was devastated by fires that spiraled out of control in the wake of strong winds caused by the 2017 Cape Storm. Approximately 10,000 people were forced to evacuate.

Traditional Food

  • South African cuisine includes cookery practiced by the indigenous people of Africa.

  • The cuisine is not rated as a gourmet cuisine in this country and as such, it is very much a home cuisine.

The colonial influences 

  • The colonial influences include that of white European people of mostly Dutch, German, French and British.

  • The latter includes the cuisine of the “Cape Malay” people, which has many characteristics of Indonesia.
