Geoffrey Chaucer:
Hi, my name is Geoffrey Chaucer. I was born in 1343, i’m the son of a wine merchant and i received an excellent education. My skill and inventiveness as a writer, a clever mindand pratical skills helped me raise my social status. I worked as a controller of the customs for the port of London and i took part in important diplomatic missions. I’m the father of English literature, in my masterpiece The Canterbury Tales, i was able to give a portrait of the English society of my time. My language, the dialect of my native London, gradually became standard English, this becoming the basis of Modern English. The Canterbury Tales is a narrative poem and is told in verse, it contains variety of narrative elements: the setting in time and place, the description of characters, the use of narrator, the moral views of the time, and individual characters like lifestyles, psychology and experiences. I died in 1400 ad i was the first poet to be buried in Westminster Abbey, in Poets’ Corner
THE CANTERBURY CATHEDRAL:
Canterbury Cathedral was one of the most important centres of pilgrimage in Medieval England. While the cathedral had huge significance at both a religious and political level in medieval times, its importance as a centre of pilgrimage greatly increased after the murder of Thomas Becket there in 1170. Canterbury’s role as one of the world’s most important pilgrimage centres in Europe is inextricably linked to the murder of its most famous Archbishop, Thomas Becket, in 1170. When, after a long lasting dispute, King Henry II is said to have exclaimed “Who will rid me of this turbulent priest?”, four knights set off for Canterbury and murdered Thomas in his own cathedral. A sword stroke was so violent that it sliced the crown off his skull and shattered the blade’s tip on the pavement. The murder took place in what is now known as The Martyrdom. When shortly afterwards, miracles were said to take place, Canterbury became one of Europe’s most important pilgrimage centres.
WHAT IS MAGNA CARTA?
Magna Carta, meaning ‘The Great Charter’, is one of the most famous documents in the world. Originally issued by King John of England (r. 1199–1216) as a practical solution to the political crisis he faced in 1215, Magna Carta established for the first time the principle that everybody, including the king, was subject to the law. Although nearly a third of the text was deleted or substantially rewritten within ten years, and almost all the clauses have been repealed in modern times, Magna Carta remains a cornerstone of the British constitution. Most of the 63 clauses granted by King John dealt with specific grievances relating to his rule. However, buried within them were a number of fundamental values that both challenged the autocracy of the king and proved highly adaptable in future centuries.

The kinght started traviling throught many kingdoms for the answer, but this was hidden. At first he asked to several people if they knew the answer and after having all the information, he started thinking about wich one could have beemn the right one.
Therefore, he realized that by that time women weren’t considered enough, althought they deserved more because they had an important role in the society. Finally, the knight, thought that maybe what women really wantedwas the respect and the equality, so proud of the answer that he found, he came back to his queen.
The works that i liked the most were the least heavy and the most “funny”. It’s been a very heavy year and doing works like this hasn’t weighed it down at all but indeed.
