Start-Ups
Startups are companies or projects initiated by an
entrepreneur to develop and sell a product destined to benefit the customers in a unique way. In 2018, there were roughly 30 million startups registered and actively operating in the U.S. About 90% of them are destined to fail due to various reasons such as lack of need in the market and a good team or they just simply run out of money.
Succeeding startups typically begin with a founder or co-founders, who have a way to solve a problem. The founder of a startup will research the problem, model out his exact solution to it, and start building a prototype, to develop and validate his business model.
In our site, we will be focusing on some inventions that we think have made the world a better place, and help society in a tremendous matter.

Why did we choose start-ups?
When we first heard about this project we didn’t really know what jobs we would want to work in, in the future. We thought of projects that could have a big impact on the world, that could change our lives and that had never been seen before. We got to the conclusion that a big part of these changes come out of startups and we wanted to learn and expand our knowledge about them. Apart from our curiosity, we wanted to study something that we can relate to in some way, and as there are a lot of Israeli-made startups and the fact that it is an always-changing field, startups spiked our interest.

3 Start-Ups We Researched About:
1)”I-Drop”
2)”Sanivation”
3)”recycle Points“

I – Drop Waterpod
“I-drop” is a company that focuses on providing water for communities in need and is also reducing the number of plastic bottles thrown away. The way this company works is by:
-
Installing a waterpod station at a grocery store (with no capital cost)
-
The waterpod purifies drinking water and allows users to refill their water (thus reducing the amount of plastic bottles thrown to waste).
-
“I drop” regularly checks and maintains the water pods to make sure they still work fine.

Sanivation
Sanivation is a fast-growing Start-Up company that aims to improve the quality of life of families in Kenya through the installation of sanitary toilets. Every 7 out 10 people in Kenya don’t have a proper toilet, and due to this over 24,000 people die from diarrhea and other similar diseases.
The toilets installed by Sanivation fit in houses of all sizes, and they significantly reduce diarrhea and mortality rates. In addition to this, once Sanivation comes to install the toilet, they collect the waste from the previous “toilet” and make it eco – friendly, and reusable.

RecyclePoints
This Nigerian based startup works by collecting trash from registered houses from the door (thus reducing the amount of recyclable trash thrown into gutters), and giving the “donators” points based on how much trash they recycled, and after recycling a certain amount can be redeemed for household items and cash. Because the trash is collected directly from the “post consumers”, the waste doesn’t commingle with dirt and as such, which makes the washing process much cheaper and more efficient.
Our Initiative
During the coronavirus pandemic and mostly in the last couple of months, the financial crisis is becoming much more severe. We believe that if the people who are financially stable will help those who aren’t, our way out of this crisis will be an efficient one, and will benefit everyone. Helping people in need does not necessarily have to be by donating, there are many other ways.
A group of people that were affected very badly by the lockdowns and other limitations during the last 9 months are the thousands of small businesses around the country (and the world), that struggle to keep their business alive. As there is no practical way of the government giving more money to them, the only way to keep them alive is buying from them instead of the huge companies abroad or online, which will survive this financial crisis.
As we were thinking of our initiative we had a few conditions that we wanted to implement in order for the idea to be practical. The first criterion was to keep the production cost low and practical, which led us to the idea of making an app/website that isn’t very expensive to create and doesn’t take much maintenance. The second condition we had in mind was something that can reach a lot of people without any restrictions, as the internet is accessible to almost everyone and is free to use, we went further in the direction of an app. The third and probably the most important one was that we wanted to make something that will help a large group of people. At first, we wanted to do something related to areas with people who are less fortunate, such as poor villages in Africa or other poor areas around the world, but we couldn’t think of any way to help them with a new startup as most of the problems boil down to simply not having enough money. After crossing out the Africa initiative, we came to the conclusion that our initiative should be related to the biggest current crisis around the world, the covid-19 crisis.

Pushop
Pushop is our unique shopping app, that will allow you to buy from any Israeli business that pays its taxes and is declared legal by the government. In the app, you are provided with a rich array of products – from clothing to appliances, from furniture to musical instruments. Furthermore, there will be an address and opening hours of each shop or business with an option for delivery depending on the ability of the business. We believe that an app like this, combined with the support of the government, can help thousands of small business owners who were struck severely by the pandemic, recover from this financial crisis and get back on their feet. This will also assist the economy of Israel for many years to come.

Our model
Our app will be a search engine that will contain any product you wish to buy. The products will be provided via shops or small businesses that wish to join and are approved by the government. The app will provide the costumer with an accurate list of the products they sell, their address, the hours they are open in, and whether they have a delivery system. If not, the costumer will be able to choose other delivery methods (such as the mail or DHL).
To get the app started, we will hire a team of developers to help us build the app. The app will profit us, the innovators, mostly through advertisements and commercials within the app. In addition to the ads, with every sale made via Pushop, a miniature percentage of the purchase fee will be added to the original price of the product, thus doing no harm to the shops, and profiting us.
At first, the app will need to be known about by the public, which will mostly depend on the businesses that join our initiative, as they will post about it on social media and will put stickers and signs in their shops or offices so their customers will know about it. The second step of the publication will be via initiated ads on social media, websites, and maybe even on television. Once we have achieved publicity, our app will thrive due to its convenience to the public and to the business owners. Hopefully, we can help as many people as possible get their business back on it’s feet.
