A food stylist occupation is the job appearance of which has been caused by the aspirations to diversify the prosaic dishes by the light notes of beauty and creativity. Therefore, a professional food stylist should be aware of all nuts and bolts of culinary art as well as to be a creative person. The main obligation of this job is to prepare various foods for exhibitions and close-up in an unordinary creative way. Usually, food stylists strongly cooperate with photographers, chefs and other artistic professionals.
Their ordinary work day consists of the fulfillment of the following duties. Before starting preparing food, stylists usually choose various accessorizes that would accompany food. They typically include placements, plates, serviettes, etc.
Preparing food comes next. Sometimes, food stylists just make final preparations making food look gorgeous and edible. The instruments used by these professionals range from traditional ones to the innovative such as hair dryers or blowlamp. Then, the final arrangement is made and the dish is located on the plate in the most attractive way that is possible. In addition, food stylists may use some of their own tricky things to attract more people to the food served.
In what specific areas of the hospitality industry might this job title be found?
As usual, food stylists start their careers as ordinary cooks. They are engage in the kitchen of various types of cafes, restaurants, hotel kitchen and other fancy dining establishments. As he or she has gained experience and photos of food for their portfolio, they are able to establish their own clients’ base. Most of food stylists, however, work as freelancers, though they could be hired on the permanent basis by restaurants to arrange their menus or for assisting in different occasions and events.
Is this a job title that you are interested in pursuing? Why or why not?
In my opinion, the passion regards all culinary matters is crucial for food stylists who want to become professionals in their field. In addition, they must have an intrinsic inclination to creativity and art. Unfortunately, I am completely unable to cook and I have to make a lot of endeavors to cook the simplest dishes. Therefore, I consider that it is better to not pursue the career in the chosen job title.
- Job Title: Sommelier
The term ‘sommelier’ refers to persons who posses in-depth knowledge about all features inherent for wine, its production and taste. They are usually engaged in day to day routine of well-established pompous restaurants. Sommeliers serve as counselors for clients who are not sure what wine exactly to choose in order to complement the dish. Thus, they are required to know how different kinds of drinks work with food. In addition, they are responsible for arranging of the wine list as well as for its proper delivery, preservation and serving. In some cases, sommeliers are involved in conducting trainings for other staff members.
In what specific areas of the hospitality industry might this job title be found?
The hospitality industry is nowadays in need for highly-qualified sommeliers. They are usually employed by various restaurants regardless of place and size, by casinos, cruise ships, luxurious resorts, etc.
Is this a job title that you are interested in pursuing? Why or why not?
In my future, I would consider the sommelier job as one of the possible career opportunities. In my opinion, I posses certain skills as well as features of character needed for this position. I am extremely communicable, and I think that I could guess possible tastes and desires of other people who are actually needed for consulting which wine to choose. However, in case of making the decision in favor for sommelier career, I would have to acquire the mastery to pour wine as well as skills and abilities required for the proper preservation and servicing of wines.
III. Job Title: Cruise Ship Lecturer
Cruise Ship Lecturer is supposed to deliver an important data regarding ports that are visited during the trip. They should be aware of the key information on important historical events happening to the certain port, different kinds of tourists attraction located there and places to visit. Their mission is to educate people by showing them unexplored corners of the world within particular culture, traditions and atmosphere. In addition, they could organize different kinds of performances like sharing of information regarding Hollywood stars, political scandals, etc. within the ship aimed at entertaining the audience.

Cruise Ship Lecturers are employed in the entertainment industry of hospitality since their main goals to cheer up participants of cruise and to guide their mood in to the positive channel. They are usually employed by the resorts providing the opportunities to take part in cruise or by the special institution arranging holidays for people.
Is this a job title that you are interested in pursuing? Why or why not?
I am definitely interested in pursuing a career of Ship Lecturer, because it would provide me with opportunity to travel around the world and to see the most distant places of the world. In addition, I am positive, broad-minded and communicative person who can easily entertain public, and I consider that this job suits me the best.More on
