The night George walked into the library, was a difficult night for him. Although he had a hard time and he didn’t feel like reading, he couldn’t stop. It was so hard for him to lie to people all the time. He felt bad and every place he went was a remainder of his lies and he couldn’t escape it.
George felt like a fraud. all the people in the neighborhood were treating him like someone he wasn’t. After he read one book with great effort and difficulty and after many days of deliberation and thoughts, George turned to his sister and father and confessed about the lie and all he had done since that evening in which he first lied to Mr. Cattanzara.
He felt so liberated and good that he decided to get rid of the lie and told to the whole neighborhood about what he had done.
He started confessing and with every person he told, he felt tremendous relief. Although the people in the neighborhood did not accept the lie well, George was so happy that he stopped lying, that he didn’t care about their reaction.
After everyone in the neighborhood knew he didn’t really read all the books, he went back to the library and this time feeling better.
He started reading a lot, not so that people wouldn’t find out about the lie- everybody already knew -but for himself, for a better future for him.
