Why Overpopulation is a problem by paisley s - Ourboox.com

Hey kiddos it’s Mr. Earth here! I’m going to tell you about overpopulation, and why it hurts my feelings. If you don’t know what overpopulation means ,it means being populated with excessively large numbers.

3

Now kiddos I know you wonder why overpopulation is a big deal and hurts my feelings, so I’ll let my good friend Paisley explain and take it from here. Don’t worry I’ll still pop in every now and then!

4

Hi kiddos it is Paisley. As Mr. Earth said I’ll be taking over for now. At the moment I bet you are all pretty confused on why overpopulation hurts Mr. Earth’s feelings. Overpopulation causes a lot of problems for Mr.Earth. The problems include, increase and demand for resources (such as fresh water fish), malnutrition/ starvation, consumption of natural resources (things like fossil fuels and) faster than the rate of regeneration , and a deterioration of living conditions.

5

Did you know “The Middle East and Europe are the most overpopulated regions, with respectively nine and eight countries among the 20 most overpopulated. China and India, despite being bywords for overpopulation, rank lower, at 29th and 33rd respectively. The world as a whole, meanwhile, is overpopulated by two billion – the difference between its actual population and the number it can support sustainably, given current lifestyles and technologies.”

Let’s call back Mr. Earth I think he has more to say. Let’s say Mr. Earth three times to get him to come back. On the count of three, one two three Mr. Earth Mr. Earth Mr. Earth.

Hey Kiddos it’s Mr. Earth I’m back! Now Mr. Earth since you’re back can you tell us how overpopulation affects others. Of course I can Paisley, I’ll explain.

7

“By the 1970s, overpopulation hysteria came fully back into vogue. Stanford University biologist Paul Ehrlich published The Population Bomb in 1968, which opened with the lines, “The battle to feed all of humanity is over. In the 1970s hundreds of millions of people will starve to death in spite of any crash programs embarked upon now.” Shortly thereafter, in 1972, the Club of Rome issued a report called The Limits to Growth. It bolstered the old argument that population growth would deplete resources and lead to a collapse of society with evidence from computer simulations based on dubious assumptions. Those jeremiads led to human rights abuses including millions of forced sterilizations in Mexico, Bolivia, Peru, Indonesia, Bangladesh and India, as well as China’s draconian one-child (now two-child) policy. In 1975, officials sterilized 8 million men and women in India alone. Were these human rights abuses necessary? No. Instead of facing widespread starvation and resource shortages, humanity managed to make resources more plentiful by using them more efficiently, increasing the supply and developing substitutes.”

Hey Mr.Earth I have one more question. “Go ahead, ask away,” said Mr.Earth.  How do you think Overpopulation started? Well I’ll tell you! “Poverty is believed to be the leading cause of overpopulation. A lack of educational resources, coupled with high death rates leading to higher birth rates, result in impoverished areas seeing large booms in population.”

Thanks Mr. Earth for explaining to the kids and I. “No problem anytime! Hey Paisley?” What Mr. Earth? “Do you think there are any solutions to help fix my overpopulation issue?” Said by Mr. Earth. Hmmm I think I might have a simple solution. “Let’s hear it!” Said by Mr. Earth.

Here is my proposal, we all need to start teaching our children about sex education early. Did you know that about 5% of reproductive-age women who have children each year are mistakes? “Can you explain your proposal a little more Paisley?” Said by Mr. Earth. Of course I can.

12

Well Mr. Earth, the more children sex educated children, theoretically the less unplanned children. Less children conceived is one less mouth needing to be fed, one less person using resources, and one less child to house. “Ahhh I see I am really starting to like your idea Paisley, but there is just one more thing I need to ask. How are we going to get the word out to tell parents they need to educate their child?”

13

Good question Mr. Earth,  Seeing that technology is so widely spread and versatile, a majority of people have a form of social media. Therefore I thought different organization such as planned parent put out over all their social medias links to different sex education sites, so parents can click them and teach their children.

“Ok I see, I unquestionable like your idea.” said by Mr. Earth.  Now Paisley, we just have to wait and see what Mrs. Rickles thinks.
