Acid rain

Acid rain is caused by chemical reactions like when nitrogen and oxides are released in the atmosphere where they mix and react with water, oxygen, and other chemicals. Acid rain most occurs in the north eastern united states, eastern Europe, and some parts of India and china. Harming people from acid rain isn’t direct. Walking in acid rain or swimming in acid rain is the same thing as swimming or walking in clean water. But the pollution in acid rain isn’t good for human health and can cause lung problems. However acid rain does affect animals and mostly aquatic animals. When acid rain gets to bodies of water like streams, lakes, ponds, rivers, or marshes it is harmful to the animals and kills them. The acid rain is also very bad for trees and plants and when the acid rain gets into the soil the acid rain blocks the tree and plants from getting the water it needs. The acid rain issue has gotten better over the years because Fausto Veranzio invented wind power. During the 1970s and ’80s the phenomenon called acid rain was one of the most well-known environmental problems in Europe and North America. In 1970, the U.S. Congress imposed acid emission regulations through the Clean Air Act, strengthened two decades later in 1990. By the 2000s, sulfate and nitrate in precipitation had decreased by some 40 percent.

My solution is to build more wind power uses. Using wind power will help our atmosphere because there will be much less pollution in the air. Using wind power saves billions of gallons of water because unlike thermal power plants, wind turbines require no water to produce electricity or cool power generating equipment. Older, conventional power plants (coal, natural gas, nuclear), use substantial amounts of water for cooling the plant. The most you need to build a wind turbine would be steel, metal, and a lot of strong things to keep the turbine standing. I think it would be best that people that know how to make the wind turbines should be the ones making the wind power because you can’t just get a ton of people that don’t know what they’re doing since the wind turbine could fall over and kill someone since they are so heavy. People ask where we are going to put all these big turbines, I’m thinking turbines can be put where land is free land that turbines can be at. I feel like this is the best solution because I think the wind power sources will last a long time.
