Air pollution started because of burning fossil fuels. Fossil fuels release chemicals into the air. Climate change has made air pollution worse.

Transportation and industries, cars, and factories are a big contributing factor for air pollution.

Some effects of air pollution are smog, which can worsen bronchitis and lead to heart attacks, damage to crops, animals, forests, and bodies of water, and reduction of the ozone. It also causes skin, eye, and lung irritation. It can cut lifespan by 3 years. And it’s not just people being affected. It affects plants and animals, too. Air pollution can slow down plant growth and kill animals.
Air pollution started in the mid 20th century when factories and industries became more popular. The countries with the worst air pollution are Afghanistan, Mongolia, Lebanon, China, and India.

Air pollution is a huge problem in the world and it’s getting worse because factories and cars are being used more. Climate change is making air pollution worse because higher temperatures can make pollutants in the air worse.

A solution to climate change is to burn less fossil fuels. You might not think you’re doing it but you probably are. Fossil fuels are coal, oil, and natural gas. An example of fossil fuels are cars. Every time you drive you are releasing nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, and other pollutants into the air.
Fossil fuels make up 85% of air pollution so if we lessened the use of fossil fuels, it could bring down air pollution. I think this would lessen the problem because it is the biggest contributing factor to air pollution. Right now the global cost of air pollution is about 2.6 trillion every year. This includes the cost of damage done by air pollution, so it would be expensive to fix what it has already done.
An organization that is helping air pollution is the EPA ( United States Environmental Protection Agency). Their goal is to make sure Americans have clean air, water, and land.

It is important to do this because if we don’t stop air pollution, it could make the Earth inhabitable for future generations. And it’s not just the future it’s going to affect. It is affecting us right now. It is increasing health risks like lung problems. It is progressing diseases like asthma and lung cancer. It causes people to die earlier than they would without air pollution.

4.2 million people die every year from air pollution. 9 out of 10 people have air that isn’t in the WHO guideline limits and contains high pollutants. An easy way to help air pollution that everyone can do is use your car less. We can all help lessen air pollution.
