First, there are about 1,700 plants of the Arctic. It once was -135 degrees in Antarctica. Animal fur turns a little white because of the cold weather. The Arctic is considered a desert because of the drought.

The Arctic is a freezing and windy place. The Arctic water can -85 on a normal day. Antarctica is considered a desert because of the drought of rain. How cold do you think it gets in the winter for animals?

There are a lot of animals in the Arctic such as penguins, polar bears, and Arctic foxes. Polar bears can weigh as much as 1,750 pounds! Arctic foxes only weigh from 6 to 21 pounds. Arctic foxes mostly eat lemmings but not too many lemmings. Did you know two thirds of today’s polar bears could be extinct by 2050.

Did you know that there are actually plants in the arctic? Willow trees spread around on the ground and only grow to four inches tall. Larches are very tall and related to the pine. Saxifrages are a large plant and can be white, yellow, pink, and purple. Where do you think the plants come from?

The arctic has many interesting plants and animals. Most people don’t live there they just make trips there. The arctic can be dangerous at times because of weather. You could even get frostbite or worse. After, would you like it in the arctic?
