Some people do not like when it rains. But I love when it rains. You see, there is a place right near my house. I call it my pawdle. Because that is where I like to dawdle.

Most of the year my pawdle is dry. I like to watch it anyway. I imagine the fun I will have when the sun goes away and it begins to rain.

I watch from the window as my pawdle fills up with water and becomes a puddle. I put on my boots and coat and go out to dawdle. I can stay there for hours and hours. I like to splash around. But I also like to imagine things. Are there polywogs in my pawdle? Frogs, fish, sharks, whales? Maybe a submarine or two? Perhaps animals that no one ever heard of!

Even though I know better, I can imagine that it is as deep as the ocean or maybe even deeper, and if I jump in it I will dive through the earth and come out upside-down in Melbourne. That would be cool!

Mom says the best things in life are free. I agree. So if you’re around, get your boots on and come tawdle in my pawdle.
