The Tower of London
The tower of London is a fortress located in the centre of London, along the Thames. It was builł in 1066 by The King Richard I. In 1100 it was used as a prison until 1952, and then it was The King’s residence. The tower of London is 4,2 hectares large.
The White Tower
The White Tower is the king’s residence inside of the fortress.
It’s 36×32 metres large, it has 3 floors. The White Tower is made of went rock. Inside the tower there is the chapel devoted to St. John.

The Royal Jewels

Now The Royal Jewels are in the barracks of Waterloo in the tower.
The Royal Jewels are the sword, the crown, the scepter and some gold and silver items. Many People tried to steal the Royal Jewels. During the Second World War the Jewels were moved to a bank in Canada.
Hyde Park is one of the nine Royal parks in London.
Divided into two parks by the Serpentine, an artificial lake, the park joins the Kensington Gardens, which are commonly considered as part of Hyde Park, even tough the two green areas have been officially separated since 1728, when Queen Caroline imposed the division.
The Main Entrance
The main Entrance of the park was built in 1824. It consists of a row of Ionic columns, with three passages for the carriages.
The gates of this entrance are made of iron and bronze.
The design includes a series of Greek decorations.
Entertainment at Hyde Park
The park, which has been the only London royal Park controlled by the Metropolitan Police since 1867, contains not only a Police station but also several commercial activities: cafes, sport fields, playgrounds and meeting points, all overlooking the water.
Buckingham Palace, located in the City of Westminster in London, is the official residence of the King of the United Kingdom. In addition to being the official residence of the king, it is the place where numerous public ceremonies take place and it is also a notable tourist attraction.
A Royal Residence
Buckingham Palace was the residence of Queen Elizabeth and now it belongs to Charles III. It was named after the Duke of Buckingham and Normanby. John Sheffield in 1703 decided to build the building as a country residence. King George IV was the first to commission the restoration of the Buckingham House.
The Ballroom is the largest room in Buckingham Palace. It was added by Queen Victoria, and it is still used for investitures and state luncheons. Queen Victoria ruled Britain for 63 years. Victoria was one of the most important women, and she is still remembered with a memorial in front of Buckingham Palace.
House of Parliament
House of Parliament, also called of Palace of Westmister, in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northen Ireland, is the seat of the Bicameral Parliament, including the House of Commons and the House of Lords. It is located on the left bank of the River Thames in the borough of Westmister.
The building includes 1200 rooms, 11 courtyards, 100 stairs and 3,5km of corridors.
The most important rooms are the House of Lords and Commons.
The mansion also includes committee rooms, libraries, dining rooms, bars and gyms.
It is the palace of important state cerimonies, for example the opening cerimony of Pairlament is the most remarkable.
The oldest part of the still existing palace, Westminister Hall, dates back to 1097.
It was built around 1840 and in 1847 the building was finished.
The original purpose of the palace was that of a royal residence, but no monarch has lived there since the sixteenth centuary.
On the evening of October 16th 1834 a terrible fire broke out in London and it destroyed the palace of Westminister.
The inauguration of the London Eye was made by minister Tony Blair at 8 pm. on 31st December 1999. The wheel was then opened to the public in March 2000 due ti some technical problems. The ferries wheel was operated by Merlin Entertainment, over the years it was sponsored by various companies, since 2015 It gas been sponsored by coca-cola. In July 2002, 8 milioni visitors came there.
The London Eye capsules are numbered from 1 to 33, but actually they are only 32. The reason for this difference is that the missing capsule is number 13. The London Eye was the highest observation point in the city of London until it was overtaken by the observation deck located on the 72nd floor of the Shard (245m high), opened to the public since 1st February, 2000.
The Millenium Wheel
The London Eye is a giant ferries wheel located on the bank of the Thames in London. It is one of the symbols and main attractions of the English Capital.
It is known as the millennium wheel. It is 135 m high and has a diameter of 120 m. The London Eye runs at a reduced speed. It doesn’t even have to stop to pick up passengers. One ride takes 30 minutes. From there you can see the Big Ben, ST. Paul’s cattedrale, Buckingham Palace and Westminster Abbey.
The project of a drawbridge started on 1886 when larger ships began to sail.
The name of this project is Special Bridge or Subway Committee.
The bridge was opened in June of 1984.
It was built in granite to cover the steel skeleton.
It is 250 meters long and 9m high.
The Tower Bridge is a mobile bridge, it crosses the river Thames, close to the Tower of London and it is one of five London bridges owned and maintained by the Bridge House Estates, a charitable society founded in 1282. The bridge was built to give better access to the East End of London, which expanded its commercial area in the 19th century.
Over the Thames
Tower bridge is a combined bascule and suspension bridge in London, over the River Thames. It is close to the tower of London, which gives it its name. It has become an iconic symbol of London
St. Paul’s Cathedral
The st. Paul’s Cathedral was founded in 604 AD but building activities started in 1675 and lasted until 1711.
The cathedral was consacrated in 1697.
The cathedral was dedicated to Paul of Tarsus Apostol, by Cristrofer Wren.
It is in the second position in the world if we consider its dimension.
In the St. Paul Cathedral the funerals of Admiral Nelson Duke of Wellington, Sir Winston Churchill and Margaret Thatcher were celebrated. There people also attended the wedding of Prince Charles and Princess Diana as well as the Te Deum after the first and the second World War.
In the history Saint Paul’s Cathedral changed its architecture some times and now it has a classical baroque style.
The plan is long and has transepts facing outward.
Saint Paul’s Cathedral dominates the skyline of London for 300 years and it is one of the most recognisable landmarks in the city.
