I have never met Mr. Harold Grinspoon. But if I met him I am sure I would look up to him. First of all, he is very tall. And second of all, he has done some very good things. I always look up to people who do good things.

Mr. Grinspoon started the PJ library. The library, together will local communities give away 40,000 books each month to young children all over North America. That is incredible! Over five million books thus far.
The books reflect Jewish values and traditions.

So I guess that if you wrote a story, say about Hansel and Gretel leaving bacon bits to find their way back home, then PJ library might not publish it. On the other hand, if they were leaving pieces of chocolate-coated matzo farfel, they might consider it. And of course the candy house would have to be kosher, that goes without saying.

If you wrote a story about a spinning top who had a terrible headache, you might want to call it a dreidel. And if you wrote a story about an elephant, you might want to name it Antiochus.

PJ Library is looking for authors and illustrators who write about Jewish themes or books that highlight values that are related to Judaism. You can read more about it here.

If you have a manuscript that you would like to submit (as a Word document or pdf), then you can e-mail them at [email protected]. Let me know if your book gets published. I’ll write a review and post it on Ourboox!
