  • The common ostrich Is the largest species of chicken that lives on the planet and also the fastest of all animals that walk on two feet (about 64 kmh).                                 
  • The length of the ostrich body is about two meters but can go up to 2.5 meters and it weighs up to 160 Kg.                                                                                                      
  • The ostrich wings are relatively small in size and unable to carry the weight of the body, so the ostrich cannot fly, the ostrich uses its wings when running to stabilize the body, make sharp turns and stop abruptly.                                      
  • The ostrich feeds on grass, seeds, insects, and small reptiles. The ostrich lives mainly in open landscapes in prairie and desert areas and that is why it lives in Africa.

Abba Eban 

 

Born in Cape Town, South Africa, on 2 February 1915 to Jewish parents. Eban moved to the United Kingdom at an early age

What made him famous was his political activities and his brilliant and exceptional expression. He was considered the “diplomat number one” of the State of Israel.

Participated in the design of UN Security Council Resolution 242, which ensured that there was no peace without a withdrawal.

Represented Israel in the form of Resolution 338. Following this decision, Ibn headed the Israeli delegation to the Geneva Conference – the first peace conference.

Mbaqanga is a style that grew in the 1960s when Western tools blended with local Zulu melodies and the combination became popular with both black and white South Africans.                               This is considered the music of the struggle for liberation.

Popular music in South Africa also had a role in the war on apartheid.

Isicathamiya is a musical style that developed in the 19th century for black South Africans who worked in the mines and sang about the difficulties of their lives in a-chapel harmonies. From this music, we learn about the resistance of the people of South Africa who have developed the type of music so that the miners do not hear them.

Knysna

 

  • Knysna means  “place of wood”.
  • Knysna is a town with 85,708 inhabitants as of 2019
  • The Knysna Lagoon opens between two massive cliffs, known as The Heads. These stand tall, acting as watchmen over the pristine loveliness of the lagoon.
  • The town is a popular destination for both tourists and senior citizens, Recently, the town has also become a preferred destination among golfers, as the town boasts several world-class golf courses
  • Knysna Speed Festival, currently known as The “Jaguar Simola Hillclimb”. It is a three-day event, with Classic Car Friday reserved for cars built prior to 1980. 
  • The Knysna Elephant Park (established in 1994) was the first facility in South Africa to house and care for orphaned African elephants.
  • Much of Knysna was devastated by fires that spiraled out of control in the wake of strong winds caused by the 2017 Cape Storm. Approximately 10,000 people were forced to evacuate

The Congo river of Zaire is the longest river in the center of  West Africa.  The total length is 4,700 km and it is the second in Africa after the Nile.

The Congo River and its brooks flow through the world’s second-largest rainforest area.

In Africa, many water sources, including the Congo, the Nile, the Zambezi, the Niger, and Lake Victoria, are the second largest lake in the world. In mountainous regions, more precipitation decreases, thus contributing to water availability. 

It is estimated that Africa has available water sources ranging from 4,590-5,000 cubic meters per capita. About 15% of the water is available at ground level sources.

The latter includes the cuisine of the “Cape Malay” people, which has many characteristics of Indonesia.
Sometimes it called “ The Rainbow Cuisine” because of it diversity.
