Cahit Arf was born in Thessaloniki which, in 1910, was a part of the Ottoman Empire.

Arf Cahit was a mathematical genius.

Arf’s most important work was in algebraic number theory and he invented Arf invariants which have many applications in topology.

Arf played a prominent role in establishing TUBITAK in 1971, the Scientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey.

In the backside of 10 Turkish Lira a portrait of Cahit Arf is present.

He died in 1996.

Aziz Sancar was born in Mardin on September 8, 1946.

Turkish-American biochemist who discovered a cellular process known as nucleotide excision repair, whereby cells correct errors in DNA that arise as a result of exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light or certain mutation-inducing chemicals.

For his discoveries pertaining to mechanisms of DNA repair, Sancar received the 2015 Nobel Prize for Chemistry

Aziz Sancar donated his original Nobel Prize golden medal and certificate to the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

Now he is sevety-two years old.

Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was born in Salonika, in 1881.

He is the most important figure of Turkish history because he is the founder and the first president of Turkish Republic.

Mustafa Kemal opened the Turkish Grand National Assembly on23th of April 1920 and hence established a provisional new government

Atatürk died at 9.05 a.m on the 10th of November 1938.
