Passwords
With the introduction of technology and the internet into our lives, the number of passwords we use has increased. Using the same passwords for different accounts on the Internet causes a huge security vulnerability.Simple passwords can be estimated on the internet, through personal information shared on social media. If this password is somehow learned, it is possible for other accounts to be taken over by malicious people.
What is a strong password?
-These are passwords that are not easy to guess.
-They are passwords that are very difficult to get by trial and error.
So how to create a strong password?
– It should not consist of personal information and easily predictable information.
– Must be at least 8 characters.
– It must consist of letters, numbers and special characters.
– It must consist of uppercase and lowercase letters.
– Different passwords must be set for all accounts.

SAFER INTERNET DAY 2024
E-ETIQUETTE
Safer Internet Day is celebrated every year around the world with the aim of promoting safer and more responsible use of digital technologies and mobile devices, primarily among children and young people.
Safer Internet Day (SID), organized by the network of European centers for a safer Internet Insafe/INHOPE with the support of the European Commission, is a global event that promotes a better Internet for all. SID is celebrated in more than 180 countries and territories and has been developed over two decades and involves children, young people, parents, teachers, educators, industry and policy makers.
This year’s Safer Internet Day was celebrated on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 under the slogan “Play safely – together for a better Internet” in order to direct children and young people to play video games responsibly.
Safer Internet Day was also marked by students of the third and fourth grades of our school with their mentor Marija Istenić.
The teacher conducted the “Nontoxic Tower” workshop with the students prepared by the organizers. The goal of the workshop was to raise awareness of the harmfulness of “toxic behavior” in online video games and other cooperative environments, and to develop strategies for constructive communication in a group environment.
The students achieved the expected results:
  • identify “toxic behaviors” in online video games
  • apply strategies to control emotions
  • learn how to communicate constructively in a team
After the workshop, the students filled out an evaluation sheet and then solved an online quiz to test their knowledge.
The students studied the leaflet “Deviant behavior in online games” and the publication “Everything you want and need to know about video games” created by the organizers.
The last task in marking this important day was the creation of E-etiquette in a digital tool according to one’s own choice. The students took this task seriously and created excellent works and posted them on Padlet.

DIGITAL SKILLS IN ENTREPRENEURSHIP
Digital competences are becoming increasingly important as more and more jobs require digital skills. Digital skills are needed today to access basic services. Therefore, it is very important in teaching students to prepare them digitally for life, but also for the labor market after finishing high school, especially in terms of digital media and information literacy.
In the subject Entrepreneurship, final grade students with their mentor Marija Istenić, a teacher of economics at the School of Commerce in Split celebrated All DigitaL Week 2024. The goal is to improve the key competencies, skills and learning success of students, by promoting quality improvement, innovation excellence at educational level and including digital inclusiveness.

INTELLIGENT RESEARCHERS
Artificial intelligence is already changing the world. Technologies based on artificial intelligence are already widely used to help and improve people’s lives.
We marked the week of the Science Festival with graduates of the Split Commercial and Trade School through two activities:
1. We held workshops on artificial intelligence, after which students researched and sought answers to the following questions:
– What is artificial intelligence?
– How does artificial intelligence work?
– Why is artificial intelligence important?
– How does artificial intelligence affect our lives?
– Can artificial intelligence replace human work?
– In what ways can we use artificial intelligence?
– In which aspects of life and economy can artificial intelligence be applied?
– Will robots and artificial intelligence conquer the world and replace people in the workplace?
– In which activities could robots replace human labor?
and cited examples of the use of artificial intelligence.
The students presented the answers to their questions using digital tools of their own choice. The best works were uploaded by the students to Padlet and published on the school’s website.
2. Students conducted research on their personal opinions and attitudes about the application of artificial intelligence. How do they think artificial intelligence is present in their lives? What can artificial intelligence do? Do they think artificial intelligence can replace human labor? In which activities could robots replace humans? What do they think about “educational robots”? Do they use artificial intelligence in teaching? How often do they use it? Are they comfortable interacting with AI? What are the advantages and disadvantages of artificial intelligence? If you met a UI robot on the road, how would you feel? Would you trust an advanced artificial intelligence to make moral decisions? Would you like to have control over artificial intelligence? If you could choose a doctor, would you choose a UI doctor? Do they think that UI will be able to replace teachers’ jobs in the future? Do they consider it correct that artificial intelligence makes the decision that the student will repeat the class due to insufficient success? Would you trust a human or artificial intelligence more when driving a car? Would you leave the recommendation of a company slogan to a human or artificial intelligence? Do they think that artificial intelligence will make our everyday life situations easier? Are they ready to embrace artificial intelligence? Does artificial intelligence have the power of logical thinking? Do they think that the development of artificial intelligence will replace people in their jobs? Do they trust artificial intelligence? Do they want to share their information and data with artificial intelligence? Do they see a risk in the implementation of artificial intelligence? Do they embrace artificial intelligence technology?

DIGITAL LEARNING DAY 2024
PLAY TO KNOWLEDGE
Although every day seems like a digital learning day, today (March 15) we celebrate the use of digital technology in learning. The digital revolution has enabled unparalleled access to information and empowered people to independently research, educate and learn independently. From instructions on how to fix something that’s broken to acquiring complicated knowledge and skills, in recent years we reach for some digital material first: a text on the Internet, a video, an online course.
Recently, Digital Learning Day has become #DLDay – an online celebration of teachers sharing great ideas, incredible stories and promising practices via social media and within their own schools and communities.
Although we are convinced that nothing can and should not completely replace “live learning”, we must admit that digitization has opened some new horizons for us and pushed our creativity.
Digital learning enables better teaching, access to interactive materials, feedback in real time and the possibility of learning regardless of space and time limitations.
With gamification in class, the students of the Commercial and Trade School Split marked the Day of Digital Learning on March 15, 2024 and created a virtual exhibition “Knowledge Game”.
The students designed questions and answers for the given teaching units and created quizzes and different digital games in the digital tool of their choice (Wordwall, Gennially, Educandy, Puzzel…) (Open the box, Flash card, Matching pairs, Wordsearch, Anagram, Gameshow quiz, Crossword, Random cards, Find the match, Match up, Flip tiles, Random wheel…). Then they exchange their games with the other students in the class and solve them together, thus repeating the teaching content of different teaching units.
Digital games help to learn, practice and acquire new skills and motivate students to strive for even better results.
Gamification in classes aims to influence the activities and motivation of students so that learning is a pleasant process for students and encourages them to acquire new knowledge.

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF EDUCATION 2024
EDUCATION CREATES A BETTER WORLD
“Education is our passport to the future,
a long-term investment that pays off many times over.”
International Education Day is celebrated on January 24 worldwide. It was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in 2018 to highlight the importance of education for peace and development.
This day represents an opportunity to reflect on the importance of education in building a more prosperous society. It highlights problems around the world and promotes projects that give every child an equal opportunity for education.
According to UN data, 244 million children and young people do not attend school, and 771 million adults are illiterate. Their right to education is being violated and this is unacceptable.
Education can break the cycle of poverty, eliminate gender inequalities and stimulate economic growth.
One of the key goals of International Education Day is to encourage equality in access to education. Equal access to quality education is a fundamental prerequisite for building a just society.
Education must become a key asset available to all, complete and devoid of any ideological colonization. Teaching about values cannot be isolated from the social context in which it operates. Education is based on values and there is no education without values.
With the virtual exhibition “Education creates a better world”, students of the third and fourth grades with their mentor Marija Istenić in our school marked the International Day of Education.
Students created digital content on one of the given topics in a digital tool of their choice (Canva, PowerPoint, Bubbl.us, Powtoon, Genially…).
  1. International Education Day.
  2. Why is education important?
  3. Education as lifelong learning.
  4. Types of education.
  5. How to study online?
After creating the digital content, the students present their work in front of the other students in the class and evaluate each other according to predetermined criteria. The students posted the best works on Padlet.

GLOBAL EDUCATION WEEK
EDUCATION = FREEDOM!
Students of the Commercial and Trade School celebrated Global Education Week. The goal of the activity is to change and raise awareness of global education as one of the main tools for solidarity and change. The students of the Commercial School collected funds for the education of 15 children from the Republic of Congo. With this activity, the students of the Split Commercial School contributed to a sustainable, peaceful and just world by providing children in the Democratic Republic of the Congo with an elementary human right – the right to education. Students introduced the public to ways of active participation and protection of children’s rights that are violated on the African continent. In this way, every human being has the opportunity to contribute to a more sustainable world.
In accordance with the cross-curricular outcomes of Sustainable Development, students of the matriculation classes of a four-year vocational secondary school in the Croatian language and Entrepreneurship classes investigated the causes and consequences of social differences in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Croatia from the point of view of education. The students were divided into two teams (DR Congo and Croatia) and researched based on the offered guidelines:
– statistical data on the number of students in Butembo (the city where we educate children) and Split
– statistical data on the number of primary and secondary schools (in Butembo and Split)
– conditions for primary and secondary education (free education, food, textbooks, infrastructure) in DR Congo and Croatia.
They made a presentation about the education of children in the Congo and in Croatia and presented it to other students, teachers and professional associates.
After presenting the research work with a Venn diagram, they compared the educational systems and drew conclusions about social, political and structural inequalities in the mentioned countries. They critically reflected on the advantages and disadvantages of education policies in Africa and Europe. They wrote the concept of a strategic plan that includes positive visions of free and democratic societies like Croatia, but also future entrepreneurial ideas for achieving the global well-being of all people.

WE CELEBRATED INTERNATIONAL DAY OF TOLERANCE
INTERNATIONAL DAY OF TOLERANCE
With knowledge, we break stereotypes and prejudices. Through understanding we remove hatred. With tolerance, we nurture differences that are always ennobling and are a prerequisite for the progress of every culture and civilization.
Tolerance is the ability to respect differences without major difficulties. It also means respecting other people’s ideas, attitudes and way of life. Tolerance does not mean agreeing with someone, tolerance teaches us to simply accept those who are different from us…
On November 16, 1995, UNESCO adopted the Declaration on the Principles of Tolerance. The idea was to promote tolerance in society by celebrating this date as the International Day of Tolerance. Tolerance is respect, acceptance and appreciation of the richness of diversity in the world’s cultures, our form of expression and a way to treat each other humanely. It is based on knowledge, openness, communication and freedom of thought, conscience and belief. Tolerance is necessary for peace and any form of social progress.
We also celebrated the International Day of Tolerance at the Split Commercial School.
The students created the etiquette of tolerance, made them aware of the ways in which they themselves can contribute to tolerance, and with examples of their own tolerant behavior, suggested how to make our environment a better, and thus a healthier and safer place to live.

World Children’s Day
VIRTUAL EXHIBITION: “I HAVE THE RIGHT TOO!”
“Humanity owes the child the best it can give”
Declaration on the Rights of the Child
More than three decades ago, the world made a promise to children – that we will stand together united, in the desire to create a world tailored to children. A world where every child will have the opportunity to grow, learn, develop their abilities and talents, grow up in a family, be safe and protected.
Today, children continue to die in armed conflicts, are forced to leave their homes to escape war and disasters, and poverty is once again is becoming the everyday life of an increasing number of children. Millions of children continue to face barriers in accessing quality education and basic health services.
Children are our future, every generation is an opportunity to create the foundation for a new, better world.
Children’s rights mean what every child should have or be allowed to do. Every child has the right to education, healthcare, food, play, safety, freedom, protection and more. Children’s rights should ensure that every child has the opportunity to reach the highest he can.
Accessible and high-quality education is the right of every individual and is one of the basic human rights, and it is also the basis for realizing many other human rights. Education gives everyone the opportunity to create their future, ensure a better quality of life for themselves and their families and actively participate in the community.
World Children’s Day is an opportunity to pause and reflect on the conditions in which children grow up around the world.
World Children’s Day reminds us of our shared responsibility to ensure a better future for children and young people by respecting their rights, responding to their needs, and creating a world in which they will be able to realize their potential while respecting their opinions, attitudes, initiatives and proposals.
By celebrating this date, the public wants to be aware of the respect for children’s rights and the need to protect children and minors from all kinds of abuse, violence and various forms of discrimination.
With the exhibition “I have the right too!” On November 20, 2023, the International Day of Children’s Rights was celebrated in our school by third-grade students.
