The witch and the magic mirror.

Once upon a time, there was a family who lived in the countryside near London. They were very poor. Nina and Charley who were eight and six years old, sometimes didn’t have enough food.

One day, Nina was walking in the park when she met Mrs Busy Body, a very rich lady from the village. Mrs Busy Body was called like that because she was always running everywhere because she had a lot of work…but nobody knew exactly what work.

That day, Mrs Busy Body was not running around. She was calmly sitting on a bench. She was looking at a beautiful shiny expensive mirror. Mrs Busy Body said: ‘Do you want to look at yourself in the mirror?’ ‘Of course’, said Nina. She looked in the mirror and saw her face and body disappear. Suddenly, she was in the mirror! She was trapped in a box!

You see, Mrs Busy Body was a witch!  But people didn’t know this. Mrs Busy Body wanted to be the prettiest witch in the whole wide world and had read in a book that if you eat a little girl, you become as beautiful as the little girl. She sniggered: “Nina, do you know that I am a witch? I am going to eat you!”. The witch then put the mirror in her handbag and she walked home.

Nina started crying. Then, she suddenly remembered that she had a phone so she called her little brother, Charley who was six years old. She told him the whole story and where she was trapped.

The little brother went to his dad who was working in the supermarket: “Daddy, I need one bottle of apple juice and rat poison.” ‘Why?’, asked the dad. “It is for Mrs Busy Body, she asked me to come and get some”. You see, Charley was scared that if he told his father the whole story, his father wouldn’t believe him.

Charley put the rat poison in the apple juice bottle, then he went to knock on Mrs Busy Body’s door and said to her: “I am going to every street to get a bit of money. I am selling apple juice. Would you like my last bottle? It is special natural juice which will make your skin beautiful”

Mrs Busy Body said ‘Oh yes, please’.

Mrs Busy Body drank a bit of the poisonous apple juice and fell to the ground immediately.

Charley found the mirror on the white kitchen table and saw his big sister in it. He smashed the mirror by throwing it on the floor and freed Nina!

Charley, said: ‘Let’s go, Nina, quick’. But Nina was tired and a little scared so she said: ‘One minute, please’ and she leaned on the wall. Suddenly, the wall opened into a secret room! The room was full of bags. The brother and sister looked into the bags. They were full of gold coins, diamonds and jewellery.

Nina and Charley took two bags each; one bag with diamonds and jewellery and one bag with coins. They ran home, they told their parents their adventure. The family lived happily ever after and they never lacked food again!
