The plot

In this story there are two problems. The first problem was that there was an arrogant prince, and one day an old lady knocked on the door of his castle and offered a rose in exchange for staying in the castle instead of getting soaked in the rain. The prince ignored her and she turned into a beautiful lady, casted a spell on the prince making him a beast and it can only be reversed by true love and if the last petal falls without being loved by a girl, he will be a beast forever.

After a long time Beauty began to love the beast, but the second problem started when Beauty’s father fell ill, and Beauty was late to return to the beast, and most of the flower’s petals had fallen off.

Theme

The theme of the story is that inner beauty is greater than physical beauty. Although Beauty is scared by the beast at first, she soon forgets his appearance and becomes his friend. She finds that he is a kind and compassionate person. It is his inner beauty that makes Beauty fall in love with him. Therefore, this story conveys the moral that you should not judge a person by his appearance and that real beauty comes from within.

Ending

When Beauty came back to the palace she found the beast was about to die because most of the flower’s petals had fallen off. She didn’t want him to die and she told him she will marry him.

Beast disappeared all of the sudden and its place was taken by a handsome prince. He told her all about a fairy enchanting him, and how the spell could have only been broken by a girl falling in love with him.

After her father got better they threw a wedding, and then they all lived happily ever after.

A different ending of the story

The flower’s petals fall, and Beauty did not proclaim her love for the beast. So all the servants become rigid, inanimate antiques, and the beast dies.

After that, Beauty begins to cry and finally she proclaims her love for the beast. Enchantress who cast the spell upon the castle in the story’s beginning pop back up.

When she sees the prince has found love, she takes it upon herself to revive and transform him back into a man as well as release the rest of the castle and its inhabitants from her spell.

In the end, Beauty lives happily with the prince.

The most character I like

The most character I like is the beast (the prince) because he is someone who undergoes a brilliant transformation. Of course, the beast had a lot of anger problems at the beginning, and had a very short fuse which leads to him losing his temper very quickly.

However, over the course of the story the beast clearly changes. He becomes much calmer and more gentle, focusing on actually learning about the people around him by listening. It shows his softer and funnier side.
