Saving for a rainy day

Since I was a little girl my parents and grandparents have always told me that since they were young they have been working really hard to save money for their future and that they have always saved money for a rainy day.

Throughout the years they also told me stories of people they had known. People who haven’t saved money for a rainy day and were badly affected by it.

Consequently,  I started working at the age of thirteen and told everyone that I’m saving money for my kids and for a rainy day.

Since that day I save most of the money I earn; money that will serve my future family and will be available for us on a rainy day or on any other day.

Inspired Into Education

My Bubba and Zeidi were volunteering people. They took care of children with special needs on the weekends. They took them to amusement parks and playgrounds. The parents got a nice break and couldn’t be more thankful.

Education has a big role in my family. My Bubba was always working with children. Children with special needs, sick children and children in regular education. Younger and older, babies and toddlers. My Bubba was the first medical clown in a hospital in England. She wanted to make sick children with cancer happy. It broke her heart and she couldn’t continue.

My Bubba is a caring and loving person, she is kind and is always ready to help. Hearing my Bubba’s stories always inspired me to become an educator too. I always went with her to her different jobs. I played with the children she took care of and sometimes even helped.

The Ugly Duckling

The ugly duckling looks very different from his siblings who always make fun of him and treat him badly because of his appearance. The young duckling searches for a place where he will be accepted for who he is. But he cannot find that place with ducks. He wishes to be beautiful like the swans he sees flying in the sky, yet he is too young to fly.

By spring, he becomes fully grown and tries to join a flock of swans. The swans don’t tease him like others, but they treat him like one of them. The duckling is so surprised that such beautiful creatures would want to be with him. But then he sees his reflection in the water and sees that he too is a beautiful swan. He has finally found his home with the swans and is at peace with all the mocking and ridicule he has endured in the past.

The search for personal identity rather than conforming to society’s norms. When the duckling does return to his pond after a period of exploration, he finds acceptance for who he is.

when I was young, my father used to tell me the story of ” The Ugly Duckling”. It is a very meaningful story that teaches us to not judge others by whom they are. The appearance is not standard for their personality.
