Ever since arriving at Shenkar two weeks ago, this beautiful L shaped bench has caught my eye. Situated in a lovely open space, it seems like years since anyone applied a lacquer finish to the wood.
The logistics team were very kind about giving us a few liters of lacquer and brushes.
But would I find eager volunteers, or would I get the brush off?
A student showed up to help.
And then another. And soon enough, more and more students, staff and teachers took their turn at applying a few brushstrokes. And the craziest part of it all? They smiled.
Oh, and by the way. It’s their bench now.
The bench is now beautiful. And now all we need to do is to find eager students to sit on it.
Of course we can!
