Max Eichholz was born in 1881.  His father was the jeweler Franz Eichholz and his mother was Julie . He had a younger brother named Jaques.  In 1904 he received his doctorate in law. During World War I he served as a front line soldier. He was awarded the Iron Cross. Before the Second World War his wife and children made it safely to Britain, but he decided to stay, wanting to lend his support to the local Jewish community. He thought that his active service on the front lines in World War I made him immune to murder by the Nazis. He was deported in 1942 and murdered in 1943.
