“The world we want to live..”

4A class of IC1 Modena starts with the story ..

In a beautiful school garden there are many plants, hedges and trees. Many students are running and playing on the meadow, where there are white daisies that are swinging in the sweet wind.

A small leaf is watching the happy children while they are playing and she thinks that Nature and Life are really wonderful. After a while the leaf decides to follow the sweet wind and to start a journey around the world. She is excited and a little bit scared at the same time..

She is happy to be in the air, up in the sky, near a bright and warm sun that shines hugging everything. The winds carries the leaf to the right, and then to the left… Then she goes near a foundry. A black smoke is going out of its chimney and the air is not good. The leaf thinks:”This smog is terrible for the children who live here around!”

The wind carries the leaf near a river, but there are many plastic bottles in the water.. The leaf thinks: “The water of the river is not clean..poor fishes..There is too much trash everywhere!”

The river reaches the sea and the leaf, from the sky, sees many people swimming and playing with the water. Then the leaf is carried away, where there is a big ocean. The leaf meets many seagulls, that are flying happily. They are also playing among the waves of the sea, eating good fish.

Far away an oil tanker ship is arriving..the leaf notices that behind it there is a long and large black spot of oil in the sea water. The leaf sees that some seagulls get stuck in the oil.. “Poor birds! That’s not good!” The leaf is very sad, but the wind carries her far away…

The leaf reaches a forest and she is very excited because she loves trees and plants a lot! Luckily she can rest among the trees. After a while she meets a small black spider. “Hi!” says him “I am Spicy and I am always glad!” “Hi!” answers the leaf “I am also glad like you! Nice to meet you!”

Spicy slides on a banana and goes near the leaf. “Well, now I am worried..there are strange animals that I’ve never seen before..they have a long arm and terrible teeth..they eat the plants and the trees…I am scared because they are eating a part of the forest..”

“This is unpleasant and in this way we are losing the forest!” says the leaf “Home sweet home..I love trees and plants!”

It starts to rain, like if the sky was crying..

“I think we need to go away and to find another place where to live..Would you like to come with me?”asks the spider.

“Of course!” answers the leaf.

And they set off on a new journey..

Demokrasi Ilkokulu, Uzunkopru (Turkey) continues the story..

Spider and leaf took a road trip. They encountered a bad sight in the forest. They saw the garbage left by people who had a picnic. And they got sad.

Spider and leaf started thinking about what they could do in this situation. In thought that “Why do people pollute the world so much?” So they called all their friends in the forest and started to collect trash.

They didn’t want to live here and they decided to go somewhere else. They were astonished by the sight saw on the way. Because all the trees had been cut down and buildings were made instead of trees.

They saw people harming animals where just went. This situation made them sad.

A strong wind took them to the city. By the way they couldn’t believe what they saw. They saw the children planting trees in the park they lived.

When the time passed, they saw the trees growing there. So they felt very happy.

Hasanpasa Ilkokulu, Kartepe (Turkey) ends the story..

The spider and leaf made friends with the children who were planting seedlings in the park. They told the children about the negativities they had seen before, and they all thought about how they could find a solution together. They said, “Maybe we can explain this situation to people with posters.”

Together with the children, they prepared posters about protecting nature, water and air. The children hung the posters around, and they told their work to other friends.

All the children warned those who throw garbage to nature and harm trees and animals.

Together they planted new saplings.

People have started not to harm nature, not to litter the seas and the environment, and not to damage trees.

The planted saplings grew, new forests were formed. Children played freely in the forest. Spider and leaf were very happy now. They started to live in the forest. They had a lot of animal friends. Now the world has become a very beautiful place.
